Bento (Lunchbox)
School cafeteria
In elementary schools in Japan students usually eat 'kyuushoku' (a set school lunch) together in the classroom, but in junior high and high schools it is common for students to bring their own 'bento' (lunchbox) with them. Students eat their lunchboxes in the classroom, together with a group with their close friends. Bento with rice and a combination of colourful side dishes make for a meal rich in variety.
